Only last night I was bemoaning the fact that I’ve been the world’s tardiest blogger of late, so thanks Ruth for the tag that kick-started my typing fingers.
So the rules are simple. It’s a Q&A meme. I have seven questions to answer, so here goes….
1. What do you want most from 2015?
The right general election result, and a Government that will fight for the most vulnerable, and those most affected by the austerity agenda. I’m hoping that will ultimately result in food banks being less necessary, a living wage, and an end to all sorts of horribleness (like the bedroom tax) that has made me so angry over the last few years. 2015 is the year we can all make that happen people!
2. What was it that made you cry most recently?
A song. ‘Someone New’ by Banks. The idea of knowing a relationship is wrong, and can’t work, but the desperation of not wanting them to fall in love with someone who replaces you. It’s a bit ‘dog in the manger’ but when I heard it, it felt as if it hit me in the solar plexus. I regularly burst into spontaneous tears when a song resonates with me. Lachrymose is an understatement.
3. Peanut or almond butter? Discuss
Neither in their purest form. Sorry. Although I am partial to Peanut Butter Cup Ben & Jerry’s. Sorry Ruth.
4. How would you describe me to someone that doesn’t know me?
Like the brightest breath of fresh air, one of life’s natural optimists, but straight-talking to the bone and a Jiminy Cricket brainworm in the best possible way. Someone I’m very grateful to have in my life. Shorthand for this, and a phrase I actually use regularly is “everyone needs a Ruth in their life”. When you meet her, you’ll know why.
5. Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter?
No question. Summer. I have SAD, which definitely isn’t a made up thing. Winter sucks. Snow, slush, grey mornings…UGH. I crave sunlight, light evenings, earlier sunrises…everything is better when the yellow orb is high in the sky. That’s a fact.
6. Your glass is half full of what?
The clue’s in the blog name! Gin of course, the other half being tonic. I like ‘em strong…
7. If you had the opportunity to give one person a piece of your mind without any consequences / repercussions, who would it be…?
The chemistry teacher who told me I’d never amount to anything just because I didn’t get chemistry, and talked a lot in class. You just shouldn’t say that stuff to kids. It’s plain mean.
So I’m back on the horse…thanks for the virtual stirrups Ruth!
